Dear Troop 623 Scouts and Families:
Greetings on behalf of all your leaders in Troop 623! It has been a full year! And now, we stand at the doorstep of a new school year as we cruise into August and then September.
I am very proud of all of our boys achievements this past year. From the rank of Scout all the way to the Rank of Eagle, our boys continue to demonstrate the highest standards of scouting and continue to work hard to accomplish their goals. Right beside your boys are a group of outstanding leaders that continue to give of their time, talent and treasure to make sure that the Scouting experience the boys receive is top notch! We are so blessed to have such an outstanding group of leaders serving in many many different capacities in our Troop. Troop 623 is just an awesome place for our boys!
This year we are trying something new. As we continue to grow, we know the necessity for our Patrols function as Patrols. We desire to see them work together, plan together, and do scouting things together. So, we are making room for this very thing to happen.
Starting in August, we will NOT meet as a troop, for a meeting, again until September 14th. We are encouraging our Patrols to take this time and plan an activity or a campout; something that will engage the boys in planning and fun. We also know that August is just a tough month to gather everyone in one place with vacations, sports, band, and other misc activities that pull them away from the regularly scheduled scout meetings.
So, what does this mean? It means our Troop will continue to be active, but more in Patrols then in large Troop Meetings. It means that the scouts are free to explore other times and days that will fit a majority of their schedules. It means that we will continue to meet for Fund Raising opportunities like the Triathlon and Brat fry. It just means that we will be spread out until we gather again on September 14th at 7pm, to review the summer!
So on behalf of Troop 623 enjoy August. Stay informed on what is happening through emails and our website. We look forward to everyones return from their awesome Patrol and Summer Adventures!!!
Yours in Scouting,
William Shepard
