-Last day to turn in blue cards for Spring Court of Honor
PLEASE NOTE-
We welcomed 6 new Boy Scouts and their families from Pack 623 to the troop last night. We are expecting more and hope that everyone finds Troop 623 a great fit.
Since we have some new members we thought it would be beneficial to go over the processes of how Advancement works. This will be a refresher for some and we encourage all to remind our Scouts what they have been told at our meetings as well.
Advancement requests which include: blue card requests, completed blue card submissions, Board of Review requests and reports of any kind will be completed on the following week. For instance, if your Scout is asking for a new blue card on a meeting night, that blue card will be printed and signed by the necessary parties and given to the Scout at the following weekly meeting. If a Scout requests and completes a Scout Master Conference, he should come to the advancement table with his book so that we can take pictures of the signed off rank requirements and process them for his Board of Review which will be scheduled for the following week's meeting. The advancement schedule for any given meeting night is already in place from the requests made the previous week. New blue card requests as well as Board of Review requests cannot be finalized the same night of their request.
With almost 60 boys in the troop, it is nearly impossible to accommodate same night requests. Please have your Scouts plan accordingly. If they are trying to meet a calendar deadline, or an event deadline that requires a specific rank, please work with them to prepare and plan accordingly. Advancement requests should come from the Scout, not the parent. There will be a rare "emergency" situation that may call for an immediate request. We will do our best to accommodate those rare situations.
We do have some of our new Scouts who will be ready for their first Scout rank Scout Master's conferences next Monday (2/29/16). Once completed, they should come to the advancement table to request to schedule their Board of Review for the 3/7 Monday night meeting.
If your Scout requested a blue card, a Board of Review or turned in their completed blue card last night, they can expect to have their requests fulfilled at next Monday's 2/29 meeting.
Please also remember next Monday is the deadline to turn in any completed blue cards for recognition at our 3/14 Court of Honor.
If your Scout is uncertain of their status either regarding their rank or merit badge history, please have them email [email protected]. Please email requests at least 48 hours prior to our next troop meeting to give ample time for the request to be fulfilled by that meeting date.
We appreciate your assistance and patience with this matter.
Any other advancements questions? Please email Christina at [email protected]
