~ Scouts were invited by Mrs. Huber to join the church's middle school/high school youth group. Mrs. Huber handed out a tentative Fall calendar for each group. If you are interested or have any questions, you can contact her
~ Eagle project help needed: Matthew Hutchinson from Troop 614 has asked the scouts for help on his Eagle Project. He will be cleaning up the tree line of trash and evasive species of plants at the Boys & Girls club in Benton Harbor. (600 Nate Wells Sr Dr) He will be doing this on Nov 2 or 3. I will send out more information as it gets closer.
~ Dylan Walsh talked about his study of the amount of water wasted in taking a shower which he did as part of his First Class rank advancement.
~ Mr. Walsh, troop treasurer, talked about the eligible items a scout can use funds from their scout account on. The list is attached.
~ We had 2 Webelos visiting us from Pack 607 and they will be joining our troop. Welcome Jason and Levi!
~ Scouts went outside for a game but had to come back in early due to thunder which led to a discussion on scout safety when thunder and lightning are present.
~ Eagle project help needed: Kyle Smith will be working on his Eagle project this Saturday and could use some help from 4-5 scouts. He will be building a handicap ramp. If you are available, please meet in the church parking lot at 8:30 am. He will be working on the project from 9-3 and food will be provided. As always, scouts earn service hours for helping which are needed for rank advancement.
~ starting at next Monday's meeting, cell phones will be kept in a box by a leader during the meeting. If scouts need them to work on an advancement, then they maybe able to get them back during that time of the meeting but we do have a whole library of all the books that are needed.
~ Matthew Hutchinson from Troop 614 invited our scouts to their Climb Kalamazoo outing they are planning in November. Details will be provided at a later date.
~ There is an OA meeting this Thursday in Lawrence. If you are a member of the OA, they will be planning the activities for the year.
~ The Court of Honor that was scheduled for September 30th has been moved to October 7th due to the church setting up for their rummage sale. This will give the scouts an extra week to finish any partial merit badges they may be working on and to get completed blue cards signed and turned in to Mrs. Marquardt. Completed blue cards are now due at the 9/23 meeting to be included in the upcoming COH.
